lots of full extension, fully rotated shadow boxing. we do sprints to run fast, well you need hand sprints to punch faster.
medicine ball exercises: ball slams, chest pass, shot put
heavy bag sprints: push heavy bag, while bag is in swing motion, throw as many fully extended punchs as possible before the bag returns. catch the bag and repeat. do about 25 reps x 3 sets

The only way to increase your hand speed once you can punch as fast as your physical ability allows is by decreasing the time it takes your mind to send the message from your brain to your hands. The first comment on the page about using numbered combination's was pretty good advice. The only thing I would add is you must stay real focused to train your muscles this way. If your not serious about learning boxing find another much safer sport. If you don't you will take a good chance of getting hurt.

Work with the mitts. Have 3 or 4 good combinations numbered 1 through 4. The one holding the mitts calls multiple numbers with increasing speed like 1-1,1-3,3,4-2,etc. AS your success increases with the completion of these multiple combinations your hand speed should increases greatly. After a while the combinations will become instinct. You will see success in just a couple of sessions.

How to punch faster thoughts by: Tyler
Hello Chris,
I would offer you a few suggestions that may help you in increasing you hand speed.
The first thing I would suggest is doing plyometrics as explained on the website for explosive power.
The next suggestion I would offer is training with strength bands to give you resistance while striking. This can also be incorporated with the use of 3-5 lb dumbbells during shadow boxing or weighted boxing gloves.
This will adapt your body to carrying a heavier work load and once the heavier work load is gone your hands will be free to fly.
