Amateur/Professional Boxing

I was wondering how long it takes to become an amateur boxer after visiting a gym regularly (2-4 times a week).

Also, after you become an amateur boxer, is it hard to become a professional? How long/what would it take to do so?

Becoming an Amateur after 4-6 months of going to the gym regularly will get your foot in the door to start competing. How long before you ready for national gold gloves that is another story. I would say you could be a really good amateur in a few years. As for going pro the biggest mistake most fighters make is going pro to soon. I would say I would peak out in the amateurs first I would say 3-5 years of serious boxing before ever considering going pro.
This is all rough estimates you trainer and gym leader will know more. They will be able to tell you where you stand. Also make sure you ask where you are what you need to improve on.
If they can save you a little mistake now its better than a big one later.
